Saturday Hangover - 11/29 Episdoe

This week we sit down with Kristen Schier in another "Get To Know A N Crowder Better." Here we learn where Kristen got her start and why she always ends up laughing at herself on stage. Plus, I call her a whore towards the end. (But in a good way.)

Then it's another segment of "Coffee With Milkshake." In this part, Milkshake and I talk about how much this podcast fits for our style of humor, physical comedy, and how funny Charles Rosen is on stage.

Saturday Hangover Special - Philadelphia Improv Festival Night 3 (Part 3)

Want to subscribe to this podcast via iTunes? Click here.

After a long week of editing and formatting, this is the last of the interviews conducted at the Philadelphia Improv Festival. After today, The Saturday Hangover will go back to it's usual once a week schedule.

In this episode we talk to Wes Needham about The Beatbox and how it got started. If you haven't seen them before, then you are missing out on some amazing improv. Then I talk with Julia Frey who does a really good Catherine Hepburn impression. She was apart of the Comedysportz set where everyone was a famous TV personality. Then we wrap up the festival interviews with a talk with Jessica Snow and Kristen Schier. By this time it was 3 a.m. in the morning. By then, we are all a little punchy.

As promised, here are some of the websites of the people we chatted with over the 3 days. Check them out and enjoy!

Saturday Hangover Special - Philadelphia Improv Festival Night 3 (Part 2)

This is part 2 of 3 of the last night of the Philadelphia Improv Festival. This is the shortest of the three parts because this is the longest segment that was recorded during the last night. Sitting down to talk is Pete Aiello and Mike Hicks of Dirty Water. There was an attempt to take a break between the two, but it was vetoed by Mike.

They talk about how Dirty Water was put together and how they all met. Pete talks how technologically handicap he is while Mike says Ben Franklin is overrated. Plus Mike and Pete explain how the Dirty Water's format came about. Also, be prepared to break out Wikipedia as historical references begin to flow heavily towards the end.

Saturday Hangover Special - Philadelphia Improv Festival Night 3 (Part 1)

Welcome to the last night of the 4th Annual Philadelphia Improv Festival! We got alot of great interviews during this night... so much that this is just the first of three posts. They'll be posted over the next week or so. Recording started shortly after midnight and went into the early hours of Sunday morning.

We first speak with Dan Rich, member of PHIT House Team Fletcher and PHIF volunteer. We chat about his first improv festival experience and what it was like to see so many shows. He also looks like someone famous. Next we chat with Mike Connor and why he was late to the show on third night of the festival. During that ranting, Corey Cohen pops in and tries to calm him down... unsuccessfully.

After that we speak to the other half of Billy Hawk, Brain McConnell about his experience here in Philadelphia. He also ends up having a job that 80% of all improvisers would love to have. Then we sit with one of the producers of the festival, Rick Horner and his take on the festival. (SPOILER ALERT! He was pleased how things turned out.) We also find out he is way behind on the websites he should be maintaining.

And finally we breifly chat with Mike McFarland regarding when he is coming back to Philly with his New York pals.

Saturday Hangover Special - Philadelphia Improv Festival Night 2

The Saturday Hangover returns for the 2nd night of the Philadelphia Improv Festival. Recorded live just after the last set, shortly after midnight on Friday November 14th. (Which does technically make it November 15th.)

In this episode we talk to Dave Warick on why he made a special surprise appearance at the festival. We also chat with Matt Nelson on his feelings on the festival thus far. After that we talk with former N Crowder and new U.S. citizen Akshay Sateesh. Then the combative Mark Dames talks about the festival and also picks a fight with Milkshake. (That guy has some issues I think.)

Jose Gonzoles from Phoniex, Arizona sits down with us and talks about improv from that great city. After that we talk to two Kellys: Kelly Vrooman and Kelly Jennings talk to us about the festival. Miss Jennings gives me a great promo to use to advertise the podcast. And finally, we sit down with the incredibly talented Cubby Altobelli.

Whew. Get ready for the next posting. There is over 90 minute of audio that will be split up into 3 or 4 separate posts.

Thanks for listening!

Saturday Hangover Special - Philadelphia Improv Festival Night 1

This podcast covers some interviews conducted shortly before midnight on Thursday, November 13th on the first night of the Philadelphia Improv Festival. Conducted in the beautiful upstairs lounge of the Plays and Players theater, we sit down with quite a few people. In this episode we talk to:

Charles Rosen on his take of the first night.

Andrew of Angry People reflecting on his first Philadelphia improv festival as well as some fun facts about himself.

Jeff Hawkins of Billyhawk from L.A. drops in to talk about improv in L.A. and the struggles of organizing a show.

And finally, in the middle of all of this, Milkshake managed to find a Philadelphia Improvisor, Jana, (Who is also apart of a PHIF house team) who not only makes people laugh, but is also a zookeeper! Although it has nothing to do with improv, Milkshake and I wanted to find out what exactly she does.

Enjoy! If all goes well, there should be another round of interviews tomorrow.

Fair warning, this podcast does contain some explicit language.

Saturday Hangover - 11/8 Episode

This week I sit down with Jessica Snow for a scandalous segment of "Get To Know A N Crowder Better." So scandalous, you may notice some abrupt editing. Some of the material is simply to scandalous to post.

After that, I continue my conversation with Milkshake with "Coffee with Milkshake." He explains why he loves improv so much.

Finally, I sit down with Mr. Improv Watcher himself, Mark Dames and talk about the upcoming Philadelphia Improv Festival. He also apparently wants to fight Matt Holmes of The Rare Bird Show. Who doesn't?

Saturday Hangover - 11/1 Episode

In this episode of the Saturday Morning Hangover, I sit down and chat with Brandon Libby on how he got started with The N Crowd. And I also chat with him on what his best improv skills are. (The answer may surprise you.) After that, it's time for another segment of "Coffee with Milkshake."

Then you get a taste of the typical banter between Kristen and I.

Saturday Hangover - 10/25 Episode

Today I talked with Philly Improv Theater Executive Director, Greg Maughan on how the theater started and a few clues on what is in store. Be it that Greg is a very busy guy, this interview was conducted entirely over the phone. (I know, I'm surprised it worked too.)

Later I talked with Apple Milkshake. It was quite the talk... In fact, this conversation led to a new Hangover segment: Coffee with Milkshake. Why? Take a listen and find out.

Saturday Hangover - 10/18 Episode

Our first official episode! We sit down with Philadelphia Improv Festival Executive Producer Matt Nelson as he discusses the history of the festival and what to expect in 4 weeks when PHIF 4 opens up. We also briefly banter with N Crowder Mike Connor for, in retrospect.... no apparent reason.
